The work includes drawing up a comprehensive plan for Field Experience supervision, making school visits, observation of teaching, marking of lesson-plans, conducting pre-and post-teaching conferences with students, assessing students’ Teaching Practice Portfolios, conducting tri-partite discussion with students and school teachers.
Professional and Pastoral Care for Students
Took part in Personal Tutorial System. Have been Personal Tutor for students on the PGDE(P) (S) programme every year.
Major responsibilities include holding regular meetings with the students, keeping contact with them via e-mail or telephone, acting as counsellor on academic and personal matters, e.g. looking into students’ personal interests, aspirations and adjustment to the life and learning in the EdUHK, advising on students’ study workload and assignments, and the worries about Field Experience. Also act as personal referee for students’ job applications and advise on future career development.
Took part in Shi-Tu Scheme (2017-2018)
Under the mentorship of Shi-fu, Tu-di is expected to learn from the tasks of instructional duties, academic research and education projects, as well as the commitment to teaching and ways of thinking. It is hoped that the traditional Chinese virtue on respecting teachers and caring for students can be promoted through close teacher-student (Shi-Tu) relationship.
